Moon Cakes are a traditional Chinese sweet cake (yueh bing) prepared in the shape of the moon and filled with ground lotus seeds and duck eggs. Historically served with tea during the Mid-Autumn Festival on the 15th day of the Eighth lunar month in the Chinese Calendar (this year it falls on September 10th, 2022 on the Western calendar), this is a popular East Asian celebration of abundance and togetherness dating back over 3,000 years to China’s Zhou Dynasty.
